Cities Database
Menu Path: MAINT/System Files/CitiesThis database is not necessary during data entry of addresses, since you can type in the city, state, zip, and area code. However, for commonly used addresses (cities), entering your user-defined code will copy this information such that your data entry time is reduced. If you are at a data entry screen for the city, and you enter either one or two characters, the program will assume that you are entering a city code, branch to the city database, extract the city, state, etc. data and return to the data entry screen. We usually use the first two characters of the city name; in the case of West Point, we would use WP; in a big city such as Atlanta, we would use the last two digits of the zip code -- your definition of city codes is the simplest for YOU to remember.
